PIIRPAUKE: KONEVITSAN KIRKONKELLOT (Churchbells of Konevitsa)

This track, from Piirpauke's 1st album of 1975, became perhaps the biggest instrumental hit ever in Finland. It was played regularly on radio and used in documentary films as well as feature films.

PIIRPAUKE: KONEVITSAN KIRKONKELLOT (Churchbells of Konevitsa)

Recorded live at Tavastia Club, Helsinki, Finland on 9.11.1996. We have uploaded this track for comparison with the original studio recording. Same original line-up, but new version with new haunting guitar improvisation by Hasse.
Released by Hasse Walli in 2001 on the "Todellinen Live" CD (HCD - 02). To be released as video on the forthcoming DVD "Hasse Walli Live at Tavastia 1" (HCV - 02).

Recorded live at the Kanneltalo Cultural Center, Helsinki, Finland on 21.10.1999.
Hasse Walli: lead guitar, Steve Webb: rhythm guitar, Mikko Vuorela: bass, Keith Hall: drums. Released by Hasse Walli on the "Winners" CD (HCD - 03). Played in a different key and faster tempo.

PIIRPAUKE: IMALA MAIKA

Bulgarian song from Piirpauke's 2nd album of 1976. Played in 7/8 time, it also became a big hit for the band. Original line-up with Sakari playing lead melody on a Bengalese flute.

Senegalese Mbalax style with extended structures, jazz influences and rock guitar feedback for the 1st time in this music style.
Hasse Walli: lead- & rhythm guitars, keyboards, Manel Diop: vocals, Aladji Faye: sabar drums & djembe, Yamar Thiam: tama (talking drum), Cheikh Diene: rhythm guitar, Pape Sarr: bass, Mousse Gueye Ndiaye: drums. From the band's second album "African Sky" (OMCD 29). Recorded in 1989, produced by Hasse Walli. Released by Hasse Walli on the CD "The Best of Hasse Walli & Asamaan" (HCD - 06).
